Black Saffron, an oriental composition, opens with the bright citrus note of the asian pomelo and crisp juniper berries, mellowed into a golden silage by kashmiri saffron. at its heart, lies black violet fused with a leather accord, their dark, dry composition born aloft by the delicate transparency of cristal rose. at the base, blond woods add radiant warmth and harmony, punctuated by staccatoed flashes of luscious raspberry. the journey concludes with the gentle, earthy evocations of haitian vetiver. saffron is holy to all hindus, is the colour of buddhist robes and has become a symbol for india. it has always been a part of byredo´s founders indian upbringing both in smell, taste and colour. black saffron is a fragrance inspired by this very idea of sublime unity.
BYREDO was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham. Ben began to be intrigued by scent and memory after travelling to his mother's hometown in India, where he was stirred by the aromas of spices and incense. Inspired by this trip, BYREDO's scented candles and perfumes have been developed with an understated approach, using simple composition of the highest quality raw materials.
